To my followers who do not come from Australia.
January 26th is our national day; Australia Day.
The date is pretty contentious, as some of our indigenous peoples regard Australia Day as “Invasion Day” - the day the “invasion” of Australia by Great Britain began.
Well anyway- on this most “sensitive” of days, our Opposition Leader (the person who leads the opposition party, and is vying for the Prime Minister’s position) made some politically insensitive comments. Well, things happened - tensions flared- and a mob formed around a Canberra (our Capital City) restaurant where our Prime Minister (the lady in white that the arrow is point at) Julia Gillard and the Opposition Leader (the man in a plie and white striped tie, with two uniformed police at his back) Tony Abbott were attending some sort of lunch/function/thing.
Anyway. Yeah. The lady in white getting dragged along is our Prime Minister - and it’s our national day.
I thought I’d share it with you.

”What about Mr Abbott? Where have you got him? We’d better help him through too, hadn’t we?

- Prime Minister Julia Gillard

She was apparently at an awards thing for emergency workers? Anyway, I don’t really want to comment either way on this right now but I can probably say that the whole incident there is a really big shame.
Actually.. looking at this picture, it just looks like all the AFP dudes are dragging them out and the protesters are all behind them (but then, we can only see one angle).
Is there any more footage of the whole thing around?
